This style sheath can be worn horizontally behind your back, on your hip, on your appendix and also vertically. When you carry it vertically it sits at a slight angle so you don't have to move it out of the way when you sit down! Check out the pictures. Check out the last 2 images for Dye and String colors that are available.

I use 7 to 10 ounce veg tanned leather and seal these sheaths inside and out. I also epoxy where the blade sits inside the sheath for added durability. I do not see others leather makers doing this. These are built to last and are meant to be passed down generations.
